Berlin – Honet ‘Protection II’ at Urban Spree Galerie

Published On 6 May 2015 | By Nicole |

Opening on 8th May at Urban Spree Galerie in Berlin is Honet’s solo show titled ‘Protection II’. Honet is a French graffiti writer and illustrator who started doing graffiti in 1988 in Paris. ‘Protection II’ is an exhibition about graffiti and perception, the visible and the invisible.

Honet has been in the game for more than 25 years. Early 90s he begins painting on walls along the line tracks and trains. With his experimental style he has influenced a lot of present graffiti writers, especially in France. His art isn’t for France only; he has travelled as far as London to Bucharest, from Helsinki to Athens and cities such as Moscow, Beijing or Tokyo. Nowadays he is doesn’t just do graffiti, but he is also an amazing illustrator. This is clearly visible in his art.

Honet’s work is filled with references from explorations, readings, historical & mystical elements and esoterical imagery. Through images such as skeletons, clowns, monsters, dead ladies and wired texts he describes a world that can only exist deep inside. Whenever he paints outside, he chooses to leave his art in secret passages in the heart of the city.

Guest artists at the exhibition are Pas de Chance, an artistic duo by Akore and Se (SeOne). They are part of the LTD crew, which was co-founded by Honet in 2006 after an unfortunate trip to Milan.
