Vienna – LOOK The Weird solo show at Rabbit Eye Movement

LOOK The Weird is co-founder of two Berlin based collectives; Peachbeach and The Weird. He has spent the last years exhibiting in various groups shows and solo shows. His first passion is and will always be graffiti, but he is now more focusing his career on being a visual artist. At the Rabbit Eye Movement Art Space in Vienna LOOK The Weird’s third solo exhibition titled ‘The night sky is full with rainbows’ is opening on Thursday 21st May.

Rabbit Eye Movement (REM) is an art space created in 2005 by urban artist Nychos, who until recently had a solo exhibition in Paris. REM is located in the centre of Vienna in Austria and it now has a function as a fulltime gallery and agency. REM’s mission is to connect and promote a network of artists, who have a background in illustration. Giving artists the opportunity to showcase their art in an exhibition is one way of doing so.

LOOK The Weird is the next artist to exhibit his art in a new solo exhibition in which he walks deeper into his mindset of Ultraland, a post apocalyptic intermediate world, where nature takes over the leftovers of a self-destructed human society.

His deep roots in the graffiti culture are clearly visible in ‘The night sky is full with rainbows’, as he finds its expression in forms, colors and the high energy of his stroke. I have never seen a night sky with rainbows, but research tells me that you can also call them moonbows. Long story, just Google it yourself. LOOK shows us these rainbows in his ultraland art.

In this exhibition he is featuring large-scale canvases and sharp highly detailed drawings – all populated by militarized corpses who fight against a growing nature to keep the human race alive. Recurrent images in his artworks are skulls, which are either the topic of the artwork or part of a whole. His black/white ink drawings show an immense great of details and fine lines. The artworks on canvas are bright and colorful like a rainbow.

If you are visiting Vienna, I’d recommend you to give Rabbit Eye Movement a visit.
