It is almost time for the annual NuArt Festival in Stavanger (Norway). It is running this year from 8-11 september and Street Art Europe will be in Stavanger to cover the festival on all festival days. Two years ago writer/photographer Menno Ribbelink already exclusively wrote about his NuArt adventures. (read the article) We can’t wait to write about this superb festival again. During this years edition you can follow Street Art Europe’s NuArt adventures on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and daily updates on the website.

Just like any other edition, NuArt manages to score a great line-up of artists. The 2016 edition includes artists Add Fuel, Axel Void, Eron,  Evol, Fintan Magee, Henrik Uldalen, Hyuro, Jaune, Jeff Gillette, KennardPhillipps, MTO, Nipper, Robert Montgomery and SpY. All artists from across the world will create new mural artworks and interventions in the city of Stavanger.

Before the festival kicks off most artists have already started with their mural the week before or perhaps have just finished it. When we arrive on the 8th it is great to already see some finished murals. So, keep eye on our daily updates for what has been created for NuArt 2016.

Even though there is lots do on thursday (8th) and friday (9th), the grand opening is on saturday 10th september at Tou Scene Centre for Contemporary Art. The main indoor exhibition is titled ‘Post-Street Art’. It runs until 16th October 2016. If you can’t make it to the opening, you have plenty of time to visit the exhibition and of course see all the newly created mural artworks in town.

Besides the mural creations and exhibition, there is NuArt Plus  with an annual series of talks, presentations, worshops, panel debates, film screenings taking place from 8-10 september. This year´s Nuart Plus symposium will focus broadly on ‘Rights to the City’ on the 100th anniversary of Dada and 500th anniversary of Thomas More’s ‘Utopia’. Check the NuArt website for this years program.

We can’t wait to be in Stavanger this year. It is definitely going to be a blast with lots of art and laughter.
